Sprinkles

Oh the irony. My 3 year-old asked for red sparkled sprinkles on his hot cereal this morning. Valentine's day is approaching, so in the spirit of the holiday, I agreed. When the bowl was placed before him, he decided that, despite the sprinkles, he didn't want it. I can't completely blame him. It's Rice Pudding made by his Dad. I don't like it myself. However, he DID ask for it, so I expected him to eat it. I forced his first spoonful and he gagged. I insisted he eat it, knowing he often begins a pleasant eating experience with gags. But, alas, he bit his tongue, pretty bad. I was unsure of the severity at first since his red sprinkles already made it all look like blood. He eventually spit it into his bowl, thus mixing red-stained rice pudding with blood. Had to dump it all out. Did he bite his tongue on purpose to get out of eating the cereal he asked for but then didn't want? I don't know. In any case, he tested AND approved of the bowl of Kix I offered him instead.
